Coffee Tasting Notes
roasted walnut | bakers chocolate

Drink what you know - a strong black coffee - but make it special. Strong black coffee drinks deserve better!

Its easy to hide cheap ands tasteless low-grade beans in a dark roast coffee, especially when topped with milk. Often a cup of that coffee is drunk and forgotten fast.

Now imagine drinking a long, strong, black, speciality coffee that warms your hands and your heart, whatever the weather…. The Fireside Blend.

This seasonal blend is currently made up of 100% arabica beans from Brazil Monte Carmelo & Rwanda, and part of our Produced and Roasted by Women range.

Coffee Info:

Brazil Monte Carmelo: Grown near the Brazilian town of Monte Carmelo. The Café Delas project was created to help women farmers access the resources, knowledge, and voice they need to grow their operations to the fullest potential.

The concept of Café Delas can be summed up in one word, “empowerment”. Coupled with ongoing training for women on agronomy and improving coffee quality, as well as workshops and events focused on empowerment, Café Delas is bringing women’s specialty coffee to market.

For every Café Delas sale, a portion of the profit is reinvested in programs that promote gender equality and empower women in the field.

Rwanda Twongerekawa Coko: An outstanding coffee from the Women-led Twongerekawa Coko Cooperative in Rwanda. A group of around 134 smallholder farmers in the highest parts of the Gakenke District in the Northern Province.

This is a cooperative with a history of investing in women, development and ways to mitigate poverty, it’s members have not only seen the quality of their coffee improve, but their local communities as well.

We have an incredible Rwandan called Theo Ndagijimana to thank for connecting us to this coffee. He is a 30 year old Rwnadan who lost both parents and 6 siblings in the Genocide 26 years ago. He invests his time in life-changing projects, like founding a project aimed at supporting single teen mothers and children at risk in Kigali. And working in another project promoting entrepreneurship and agribusiness amongst women in Rwanda.

Theo has big dreams for equility and equal opportunities in Rwanda and its a delight that he has connected us to this great coffee you are drinking.

This coffee is part of our ‘Roasted & Produced by Women’ range. Discover more here.
